Microsoft Office Pro 2021 lifetime license

    by applered2012 ·

Tech Republic offering Microsoft Office Pro 2021 purchase for only $49.97 for a lifetime license. But what good is a lifetime license if it is only supported by Microsoft until October of 2026? Am I missing something?

I still run MS Office 2007 Enterprise which runs on my Windows 11 PC. It isn’t 100% with some documents/formats/templates, but it does work well enough for me for most of my needs with the installed applications (Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Groove, etc.)

      Hello,
Purchasing Microsoft Office Pro 2021 for $49.97 as a lifetime license from Tech Republic might seem appealing, but the support for this version by Microsoft ends in October 2026. After this date, you won’t receive any security updates or official support, which could make the software less secure and potentially incompatible with future technologies.

A life Time Licence is only to legally run an old version of Office, with a constant danger of file incompatibility.
In my country, the Income Tax Utility requires a Excel 2010 or higher. It was not so a couple of years ago. Who knows, tomorrow it may require Office 2021!

I stil run Access 2007 and Office 2010 on Windows 10, and both run fine, and “understand” the current .docx and .xlsx format.
No problem at all, although, of course, it doesn’t have the latest features. And I wouldn’t call it unsecure, because these program don’t directly interact with the web,

Lifetime = as long as the hardware you install it on runs Windows. Not Linux, and probably not on a new machine.

In my software bin or drawer I have Office 95, 2003 and other versions.

They all still work fine. I have yet to find any need to call Microsoft for support. Also if I pass them along to others then these are good for more than one lifetime!

I agree completely. In fact, I have installed/run the same licensced copy of Office 2007 on multiple personal computers over the years with no issues. While I don’t expect Microsoft to offer support until perpetuity, I have had no need to search out support from them directly for any reason for that software.
